Biden Administration Takes Down Post on ‘Potential Terrorist’ Apprehended at Southern Border

Don’t say you didn’t know. Biden’s boarder “policy” will have dire consequences for America. mrossol

The Epoch Times, By Zachary Stieber  December 29, 2021

President Joe Biden’s administration has deleted a social media post that informed the public that a “potential terrorist” had been apprehended this month at the U.S.–Mexico border.

Chris Clem, a top Border Patrol agent, posted pictures on Twitter last week showing the man who was apprehended.

Clem included the man’s age (21), his country of origin (Saudi Arabia), and said the male was “linked to several Yemeni subjects of interest.”

But Clem’s post was taken down recently, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which includes Border Patrol, confirmed to The Epoch Times on Dec. 29.

“All individuals encountered at or between U.S. ports of entry are screened and vetted against a broad range of law enforcement and intelligence information to determine if they pose a threat to national security or public safety, consistent with the law. CBP is continuing to investigate the matter following its standard protocols. This may include referral, if appropriate, to other relevant law enforcement entities for further investigation and a custody determination,” Luis Miranda, CBP’s public affairs assistant commissioner, said in an emailed statement.

“A December 20, 2021, tweet on the matter has since been deleted as it contained law enforcement sensitive information, violating agency protocols,” he added.

A similar situation played out in April when CBP announced that two Yemeni nationals on the FBI’s Terrorism Watch List were apprehended at the border. In that case, the agency issued a statement detailing the arrests.

That release was pulled within days.

“The news release in question was not properly reviewed and contained certain disclosure and policy information related to national security that required CBP to remove it from our website,” the agency said at the time.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) took notice of the more recent scrub.

“The American people deserve to know that suspected terrorists are coming through our broken border system. We need to get to the bottom of this,” he wrote on Twitter.

The Biden administration is presiding over the worst illegal immigration surge in U.S. history and Republicans say the crisis involves terrorists and people with terror links.

“I am deeply troubled by reports of a Saudi national apprehended at the southwest border with potential ties to terrorism and found wearing a jacket emblazoned with a Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps emblem,” Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.), ranking member on the House Homeland Security Committee, told The Epoch Times in an email.

“As I and many of my colleagues have been saying for months, the impact and relevancy of the Biden Border Crisis are not limited to communities along the southwest border. Migrants are entering the United States illegally in record numbers from a litany of countries. We are undoubtedly experiencing a nationwide crisis.

“While I continue to seek additional details from the Department of Homeland Security about this specific instance, the reality is our nation faces a serious crisis at the southwest border and this Administration still refuses to address it. With this report, as well as documented increases in fentanyl and other drugs crossing the border, it’s clear the security failures on the border are having an adverse impact on Central New York and communities across the United States. That’s why I remain committed to advocating for strong border security,” he added.

Katko and other lawmakers have unsuccessfully urged Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to make public the number of suspected or confirmed terrorists caught by border agents this year.

Biden on Covid: ‘No Federal Solution’ – WSJ

Say what?! So all of a sudden the great savior (Democrat run Federal Government) cannot solve COVID? And they will lateral the ball to the States? How convenient! mrossol

WSJ  12/28/2021

When President Biden’s public utterances make the news, it’s sometimes hard to tell whether he’s signaling a substantive shift or merely wandering off message. On a call with governors Monday to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic, this is how Mr. Biden started his remarks: “There is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level.”

Oh? During the 2020 presidential campaign, Mr. Biden pledged “to shut down the virus, not the country.” He also slammed President Trump in a debate, saying: “Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as President of the United States of America.” Mr. Biden’s policies have followed that approach, as when his Education Department inserted itself into state and local debates over school mask policies.

The Biden Administration has also issued broad federal rules to require that tens of millions of workers be vaccinated or regularly tested. The mandate from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration applies to private companies nationwide that have 100 or more employees. Next week the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments over whether this is a lawful use of government power after lower courts have split on the question.

If Mr. Biden is beginning to make a rhetorical turn toward coping with Covid, since the virus is probably here to stay, this would be a welcome shift. He was wrong last year when he suggested that any politician had the power to control the pandemic. Now that Mr. Biden is in office, as the Omicron variant refuses to be “shut down,” it would be a politically convenient time for him to acknowledge the virus reality.

Yet this shift could still do some good, in that Mr. Biden’s say-so could bring along some of his fellow Democrats and the media, as well as move the conversation toward living with an endemic Covid. If this is the way Mr. Biden is going, then he should also notify the Supreme Court that he plans to have OSHA withdraw its overbroad vaccine mandate. That would be consistent with his message Monday on the lack of a “federal solution.” It also might save Mr. Biden from a High Court smackdown.

Mayor Declares State of Emergency in Arizona City Rocked by Illegal Immigration

The Epoch Times,  12/11/2021  by Charlotte Cuthbertson

YUMA, Arizona—The mayor of an Arizona border city that has nearly 100,000 residents declared a state of emergency this week due to the soaring numbers of illegal immigrants flooding in from Mexico.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls said he issued the declaration “due to the unprecedented numbers of migrants entering the city prior to being processed and released by Border Patrol.”

The action enables the city to receive state and federal funding to try to combat the crisis.

Apprehensions of illegal immigrants in Customs and Border Protection’s Yuma Sector have shot up since President Joe Biden took office in January.

Border agents in the sector made about 8,800 arrests in fiscal year 2020, which ended in September 2020. They made over 114,000 arrests in fiscal year 2021 and 21,623 arrests in the month of October alone.

Agents are releasing many of the illegal aliens into the United States, Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot told The Epoch Times.

Under the Biden administration, nearly 95,000 illegal immigrants have been released without a court date, and an untold number of others have been released with a court date. Some don’t show up to court and the majority of those that do are denied asylum.

Law enforcement is “overwhelmed,” Wilmot said.

Illegal immigrants are ditching identification cards before crossing the border to try to boost their chances of being granted asylum, he added.

“They don’t want to be associated with those countries, because they know they’ll get sent back. So it’s all a false narrative. And they’re there. They’re playing the game,” Wilmot said.

The Epoch Times witnessed on Friday more than 100 illegal immigrants being picked up by border agents after crossing into Yuma.

The group included eight nationalities, including 33 Venezuelans, 15 Colombians. four Bangladeshis, three Romanians, and two Russian men. Six young men from India were at the border fence area the previous evening.

Illegal immigrants are directed from the Mexican side to cross in a certain area because the border is a small, fairly shallow (about 3 feet) creek below a dam. The border fence here used to be just Normandy barriers, of x-shaped barriers, which were built to stop vehicles crossing. Construction started on a 30-foot tall fence during the Trump era but was halted before it was complete, and that’s where the illegal aliens come up after crossing the creek.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican, was in Yuma this week. He announced he was surging Arizona National Guard personnel and equipment to the area to help deal with the flood of immigrants.

“The Biden border crisis is out of control and it’s getting worse by the day,” Ducey told reporters after a tour with local authorities.

The administration’s ending of “sensible policies” like the “Remain in Mexico” program has led to the crisis, Ducey asserted.

Biden and top officials under him altered or axed key Trump-era policies shortly after taking office. They’ve had to reinstate some, including the program, but have been able to continue with what experts say amounts to a weaker immigration enforcement system.

Ducey directed Arizona Adjutant General Kerry Muehlenbeck and other state officials to come up with a plan to address the situation in Yuma, calling it a top priority of his administration.

Texas Law Enforcement Reports Reveal Scope of the Border Crisis

It is crazy to think any American citizen thinks what is happening at the boarder is good, positive. I’m flabbergasted every time I am reminded of what is happening. mrossol

The Epoch Times, 12/2/2021    By Charlotte Cuthbertson

DEL RIO, Texas—In one week, 22,651 illegal aliens from 40 countries were apprehended in Texas near the U.S.–Mexico border, according to a Nov. 2 law enforcement report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety and obtained by The Epoch Times.

The reporting week encompassed the seven days from Oct. 27 through Nov. 2, and according to the previous week’s numbers and a report from May, the numbers have been this high for months.

Law enforcement arrested 48 fugitives and 13 gang members. In addition, more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana, 669 pounds of methamphetamine, and 87 pounds of cocaine were seized. Also confiscated were 27 handguns, three long guns, and more than $188,000 in cash.

In the past six months, three separate currency seizures each exceeded $1.5 million.

The Border Operations Sector Assessment reports, labeled “law enforcement sensitive,” are issued weekly to law enforcement personnel and government recipients, but the public is kept in the dark about the extent of border crime and illegal activity in their respective areas. The reports emanate from the Border Security Operations Center, run by the Texas Rangers, which collates information from Border Patrol, as well as state law enforcement and participating local law enforcement.

Just shy of 22,000 illegal aliens were apprehended on average per week in Texas over the past four weeks—68 percent of whom were from countries other than Mexico. Extrapolated for a year, that would mean more than 1.1 million illegal alien apprehensions along the Texas–Mexico border alone. The report doesn’t estimate how many individuals evaded apprehension.

While illegal aliens from Central and South American countries tend to account for most of the apprehensions, the numbers from other nationalities are significant. In the reported week, apprehensions included 57 illegal immigrants from Turkey, 36 from Romania, 26 from Senegal, 14 from Eritrea, eight from China, and three from Uzbekistan.

The U.S. State Department lists four countries as “state sponsors of terrorism”—Cuba, North Korea, Iran, and Syria.

Although a handful of illegal aliens are caught in Texas each week from the latter three counties, hundreds of Cubans are flooding across the border and claiming asylum. In the week of the report, law enforcement apprehended 610 Cubans entering Texas, and 551 the previous week.

The report includes a section with photos showing where law enforcement is finding drugs and cash concealed in vehicles. It also includes a section that outlines significant recent events in Mexico, including any large group of migrants heading toward the United States border and any cartel activity. In one case, the Mexican army arrested three kidnappers from the Gulf cartel who were holding 25 people in southeast Matamoros, the Mexican city across the border from Brownsville, Texas.

The report states that law enforcement was involved in 61 vehicle pursuits and 55 bailouts (in which a driver stops and the passengers scatter to avoid capture). The actual numbers are likely higher, as statistics from some counties aren’t included in the report.

The Willacy County Sheriff’s Office reported seven incidents of human smuggling within a five-day period. The county sits on a direct smuggling route to Houston, 30 miles north of the border in the Rio Grande Valley. Deputies arrested three human smugglers, turned 16 illegal aliens over to Border Patrol, seized seven vehicles, and were involved in four pursuits and five bailouts.

On Oct. 29, just north of Van Horn, Texas, law enforcement responded to a vehicle rollover that involved five illegal aliens and four other deceased occupants.

In the Big Bend sector, on Oct. 30, a Texas state trooper stopped a Chevrolet Tahoe and arrested the driver, who was under 18, for human smuggling. The driver admitted to being paid $2,000 to pick up the passenger, an illegal alien minor.

The reports also track gang activity in each border sector.

During the week, Border Patrol reported encounters with 11 gang members associated with the Texas Syndicate, Paisas, 18th Street, Gulf Cartel, and MS-13 gangs.

In the Laredo sector on Oct. 28, a convicted felon and captain of the Mexican Mafia Laredo Chapter was arrested while distributing narcotics and carrying a firearm. Law enforcement searched a related apartment and found methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana. Several Santa Muerte shrines were located in the apartment, according to the report. Santa Muerte, or the saint of death, is often revered by cartel and gang members.

A second law enforcement report obtained by The Epoch Times that summarizes border activity from the end of May, shows similar trends, indicating the consistently high volume of border crime.

More than 25,000 illegal aliens, from up to 46 countries, were apprehended per week during a four-week period, with more than 70 percent of them from countries other than Mexico.

June 2011 Report

Ten years ago, the picture looked vastly different.

During the reporting period of June 15 through June 21, 2011, the number of illegal aliens apprehended near the Texas–Mexico border was 2,258—one-tenth of the current number, although the volume of drugs seized was significantly higher.

The illegal aliens hailed from 22 different countries and 34 percent were from countries other than Mexico—compared to the 68 percent in recent times.

Law enforcement arrested 179 fugitives and 15 gang members. Agents seized almost 35,000 pounds of marijuana, 237 pounds of cocaine, 57 pounds of methamphetamines, and almost five pounds of heroin.

The report also outlines three separate incidents—on June 9, 11, and 19—where Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement personnel in the Rio Grande Valley area were shot at from the Mexican side of the river.

The 2011 report contained more detailed information on cartel activity in Mexico than the more recent reports (16 pages versus two pages), including details about alleged cartel-related killings in Mexican border cities.

One example from June 21, 2011, described the discovery of a man’s remains in Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso.

“A black plastic bag containing the head and genitals of a man was thrown from a car onto the sidewalk behind a church,” the report states. “The rest of the body was found the following morning on a sidewalk in front of an abandoned house five blocks away. The man’s torso was inside one plastic bag and his extremities in another bag inside a cardboard box.”

The Epoch Times submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Texas Department of Public Safety asking for Border Operations Sector Assessment reports from previous years.

The request was denied on the basis of a prior opinion that states, in part, “We agree the release of the submitted information would interfere with law enforcement.”
