Obama Issues Statement about Christians Killed by ISIS Without Using The Words “Christian,” or “Radical Islam”

“They were killed simply because they were Christians.” – Pope Francis

Several days ago, 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians were slaughtered on the beaches of the Mediterranean in Libya. Lying face down on the sand, they had their heads lifted up, and their necks dug into, and torn by the knives of their captors. The video released by ISIS then shows the waves spinning red with their blood. It was the first such video released by ISIS to show a decapitation in full, and it comes hot off the heels of the video in which ISIS immolated a Jordanian man in a cage.

The video itself, which begins with a title screen “A Message Signed With Blood To The Nation of The Cross,” follows with a translated text. After the 21 men are made to go on their knees, the screen reads:

“The people of the cross, the followers of the hostile Egyptian church.”

Then a masked man—presumably the leader—says the following (emphasis my own):

“All praises due to Allah, the strong and mighty. And may blessings and peace be upon the ones sent by the sword as a mercy to all the world. Recently, you’ve seen us on the hills of Al-Sham…chopping off the heads of those who have been carrying the cross delusion for a long time, filled with spite against Islam, and Muslims…All crusaders: Safety for you will be only wishes, especially if you are fighting us all together. Therefore we will fight you all together. The sea you have hidden Sheikh Osama Bin Laden’s body in, we swear to Allah we will mix it with your blood.”

David Cameron, Prime Minister of England, strongly condemned the slaughter in a statement issued Monday:

“I am appalled by the murder of Christians in Libya, a simply barbaric and inhumane act. My thoughts are with the families of those killed and the UK stands united with the Egyptian people during this period of mourning…Our efforts to defeat the monstrosity of Islamist extremism must not waver.”

These 21 men were killed for one reason and one reason only: their faith. The ISIS militant leader in the video says as much, and that is the universal understanding of the situation. No sane person would watch the video, knowing the circumstances of radical Islam’s hatred of Christians, Jews, and non-Sunni Muslims, and think otherwise, yet the Obama administration still refuses to use the words “Islamic extremism,” “radical Islam,” or in this instance, “Christian.”

The White House released a statement on Sunday condemning the killings, but with two striking omissions:

“The United States condemns the despicable and cowardly murder of twenty-one Egyptian citizens in Libya by ISIL-affiliated terrorists. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and our support to the Egyptian government and people as they grieve for their fellow citizens. ISIL’s barbarity knows no bounds. It is unconstrained by faith, sect, or ethnicity. This wanton killing of innocents is just the most recent of the many vicious acts perpetrated by ISIL-affiliated terrorists against the people of the region, including the murders of dozens of Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai, which only further galvanizes the international community to unite against ISIL.”

The statement goes on, but it fails to capture even the basic driving motivation behind this incident: Christians were killed by radical Muslims solely because of their faith. That is absolutely true, and the White House just didn’t care to mention it.

The White House statement beats around the bush, using language like “despicable,” “cowardly,” and “barbarity,”—whichh are all true—but fails to note the faith of the victims, nor the religion of the murderers, which is the single most important factor in the killings.

While other leaders stand up, look into reality, and declare what they see, and know to be true, Obama is flatly unwilling to “slander the Prophet of Islam.” Why? I’ll tell you why. Barack Obama is an anti-Christian bigot, who is hell-bent on lifting up Islam, and condemning Christianity. The reasons for this are numerous, but those reasons have driven him to a perverse respect for evil, and a disdain for Christianity.

Were he to mention that these men were executed because of their faith in Christ, he would be acknowledging their martyrdom, and he cannot do that without then explaining why these men were martyred. Were he to mention the singular reason behind their slaughter—their faith—he would have to include the fact that the reasoning came from the minds of radical Islamists. So he forgoes any mention of religion whatsoever, making the actions of ISIS appear areligious.

In doing this, by making ISIS areligious, Obama can walk the line, protecting Islam, and not acknowledging the martyrdom of the faith he hates so much.

This is the man who told the nation not to “get on our high-horse” and condemn Islam because some Catholics killed some Muslims 800 years ago in what was arguably a defensive war. This is the man who said that the world will not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam, and that it’s his duty to protect Islam:

“I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

Yet, where is he to fight for Christians? Not even American Christians–we don’t need his help. Where is he to fight for the Christians being mercilessly slaughtered by ISIS?—who are indeed radical Islamists. It’s as if he just doesn’t care. In his mind, politically correct BS is more important than reality. Meanwhile, people are being decapitated, immolated, and shot to death in the name of Allah every day simply because they believe differently.

Where is your compassion for those who believe differently, Obama? You have compassion for those who “love differently,” but none for those who believe in Christ, and are murdered because of it.

You have no compassion, Mr. President. You are a worthless, small, and cowardly man. While skin melts from the bodies of immolated men in cages, and blood spurts from the necks of Christians, you divert attention to protect the extremists who are killing them.

You missed an opportunity, Mr. President. Your 2012 campaign slogan should have been “Allahu Akbar.”
